2026 APL/AVL Trophy Tournament

We’re happy to announce that registration is now open for the 2026 APL/AVL Trophy Tournament!

### Tournament Format & Prize

* Triplette Mixed format, played over two days
* Teams consist of either 1 man / 2 women or 2 men / 1 woman
* 🏆 Grand Prize:* the legendary cheap plastic trophy, currently in APL’s possession following a decisive victory in 2025
* 💸 No entry fee!

There will be 5 games on Saturday and 3 games on Sunday.

The last game on Sunday will terminate around 2:00-2:30 PM, which will allow you 
time to make you way back home Sunday evening.

Another option might be to play the 3 Sunday games prior to lunch  ( be ready for both options).

### Team Limits & Practical Considerations

* Each club may field a maximum of 8 teams
* Please consider the time, travel, and expenses associated with the event

* Estimated cost: ~$700 per couple, depending on a 2–3 night stay (travel, lodging, and meals)

Another important factor is our goal of sending the strongest possible teams to represent APL. If more than 8 teams register, not everyone will be able to participate.

### Registration & Selection Process

* Form a team and register below
* Registration deadline: February 18
* Order of registration does not matter

* In the interest of fairness to full-paying members, Full and Social members will be given priority over Guest members. Player slots will be filled by Full and Social members first, with Guest members permitted only if spaces remain.

We encourage you to register as many teams as you want. Having alternate teams or players in case of last minute cancellations (illness, etc.) is preferable…

Final team selection will be made by a committee composed of:
Shannon, Kevin, Stéphane, Kristy, Cyrille, Nico (Philippe)

If more than 8 teams register, the committee will determine:

* Which teams participate
* Final team compositions

This may mean:

* A registered team is not selected, or
* Players are reassigned to different teams to create the strongest and most balanced lineup

No one will be required to play on a team they object to. Open discussion with committee members is encouraged to accommodate individual preferences while keeping our overall goal in mind.

### Important Note

By registering, you acknowledge that:

* You may or may not be able to play with your original team
* You may not be selected to play at all

We  currently have 71 active APL members and room for only 24 players, unfortunately some members will have to sit this one out.
